Excel 2007 – New Functions

Five new functions

By Neale Blackwood
There are five new functions in Excel 2007.

Funnily enough, four of them were created because users were frequently using array formulas to do the calculations … so now they are built-in.

IFERROR – this allows you to handle errors more elegantly than the old IF and ISERROR combination.

SUMIFS, COUNTIFS – these provide multi-criteria options for SUMIF and COUNTIF.

AVERAGEIF – works in the same way as SUMIF

AVERAGEIFS – is the multi-criteria version.

But be warned! These functions are not compatible with previous versions of Excel so will return errors in those versions.
