The Challenge

As a fast-growing enterprise, GenusPlus Group generates a large amount of data from its various divisions. Dynamics 365 BC met their financial and operational needs, but didn’t provide the reporting insights, speed, and flexibility needed out of the box.

The company was looking for a financial reporting solution to improve efficiency and accuracy. Before finding Solver, it was taking nine people a full day each month to produce the needed profit and loss reports. In addition to producing more automated reports, GenusPlus wanted to gather financial snapshots across different products and service lines and compare budgets to actuals.

The Solution

Genus Plus turned to Access Analytic to provide a recommendation on a better consolidated reporting solution. The Access Analytic team introduced Genus Plus to Solver, a tool that performs consolidation and allows for the team to use their existing Excel skills to build all the financial reports they need in Solver. The project started with just ten reports and now produces 192 different reports on a regular basis. That number does not include the dynamic reports that users produce as needed.

How did Solver reduce dependency on staff?

Monthly financial reporting that took 72 hours to produce is now completed in just three hours. Plus, GenusPlus Group can now see, produce and service financial snapshots across multiple financial years, a task that was unwieldy without Solver.

How has Solver improved insight?

In Dynamics 365 BC, each entity is separate. In Solver, all the data is brought into a single data warehouse for easy consolidated reporting. The company can bring in budgets to compare estimates to actuals, and sort costs by various buckets.

How has Solver helped GenusPlus Group expand?

GenusPlus Group is growing through acquisition. With Solver, new entities can be easily added and reported on. The implementation started by reporting on just eight entities and has since grown to twenty-five (and counting!) with Solver making it possible for the company to scale easily and efficiently.
