Paste Special Column Widths

By Wyn Hopkins

If you copy some nicely formatted data from one sheet to another, one of the annoying and time consuming issues is then having to re-size the column widths.

As you can see pasting the table above into a new sheet, means that I then need to narrow some columns and widen others in order to get my data to look like the original.

However, a simple few clicks can save you a lot of time. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Do your copy and paste as you would normally
Step 2: RIGHT-CLICK in the area where you just pasted,  select Paste Special followed by COLUMN WIDTHS

Step 3: Click OK and hey presto! All columns now match your original formatting.
