Shift key and the toolbar

Reduce the number of toolbar icons
The Shift key has many uses in Excel, not just changing lower case to upper case. If you hold the Shift key down and click some toolbar icons, Excel will do the opposite of what the icon says.

There are only a limited number of icons this works with – basically the icons that have an opposite eg Sort Ascending & Sort Descending, Increase Decimal & Decrease Decimal. There are others – try experimenting. Shift + Print icon will display Print Preview. This means you can remove one of the double icons and use the Shift key to get the opposite result. This means more room for other icons that do other things.
