Project Description
Overview
BGC is one of Australia’s leading vertically integrated construction material businesses with a focus on residential and commercial construction.
Business Challenge
BGC had some existing Power BI reports which monitored key HR performance indicators such as employee attrition, absenteeism and leave entitlements.
The reports required an update to reflect recent changes in BGC’s organisational structure and to make it easier to analyse and extract relevant information.
Business requirements included adding a new organisational hierarchy to filter the reports, revising existing model calculations to be in line with management requirements, and adding the ability to drillthrough to more detailed information.
How Access Analytic Helped
We worked with the BGC HR team to clarify management’s reporting requirements and incorporate new data into the reports.
We used Power BI to connect directly to automated payroll extracts stored in SharePoint and then extract and manipulate the data to prepare it for analysis. We then reconfigured the reports to allow for more detailed analysis of key HR metrics while still maintaining a similar look and feel to the original reports.
The reports were published to PowerBI.com and then securely shared across the organisation, accessible only to employees with certain access privileges.
Business Benefits
- Significantly improved, secure access to required HR metrics for key personnel within different parts of the organisation
- Enhanced calculations allowing for more detailed and accurate analysis of factors impacting each KPI
- Simplified report layout and consistent filtering experience across different report
- Single source of truth for key HR information, improving collaboration across different departments.
